London {British Museum & Soho Twilight Tour}

On our second day in London, we got to sleep in a bit and eat a leisurely breakfast at our hotel because our first stop of the day, the British Museum, didn't open until 10am. We also got to take a ride on the iconic double-decker bus!

The British Museum is beautiful and free (always welcome in expensive London). We walked around for a few hours, seeing the Rosetta stone, the Colossal horse from Halikarnassos, the Parthenon sculptures, Egyptian mummies, etc.

After that, we made the brief walk to King's Cross station to see Platform 9 3/4. Unfortunately, there was a massive line, so I was content with snapping a picture between people and wandering around the Harry Potter shop next door.

I had heard such great things about Dishoom, so we grabbed lunch at the location in Kings Cross. We started with samosas and calamari and shared the House Black Daal, Chicken Ruby and plenty of garlic naan. This meal was unreal - my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

We were stuffed after our lunch, so we walked to Covent Garden to see the festive Christmas decorations. We shopped around a bit, listened to performers and musicians and soaked up the Christmasy vibes.

We had some time to kill before our 4:30 appointment, so we walked to the Seven Dials and Neal's Yard. This may have been the cutest area we explored in London. There were so many boutiques, hidden alley ways and little cafes.

We were both super excited about our Eating London Twilight Tour at 4:30 in Soho. We had previously done a tour in Rome with the same company and thought it was fabulous! There were 6 other people on our tour and it was the perfect amount. Each stop we had a small bite and a cocktail. My favorite drink was either a vanilla/apple margarita from La Bodega Negra or a prosecco cocktail at Basement Sate. The best food was the dumpings at Opium. Best ambiance was the bomb shelter at the London Gin Club. Overall, just an AWESOME tour.

One crazy thing that happened on our tour - we were leaving our pixtos stop enroute to Chinatown when the lights went out in ALL of Soho! We were walking around in total darkness! Luckily, we were able to just switch around our locations and we were able to make it to all stops on the tour!

Afterwards, we went to grab a few beers at a pub with a couple we met on our tour who were from Denmark. It was great to chat politics and life with them! We decided to walk back to our hotel via Carnaby and Regent street to see all of the twinkling Christmas lights!

Next Up: Day 3 in London: Notting Hill, Borough Market, wandering around South Bank and Ice-Skating at Somerset House!
